Job Summary
The
Manual Blaster – Robotic Hull Painting supports robotic hull coating operations
by carrying out manual abrasive blasting activities, surface preparation,
touch-ups, and confined or restricted-area blasting where robotic systems
cannot operate. The role ensures hull surfaces meet specified cleanliness and
profile standards in compliance with offshore safety requirements, coating
specifications, and client standards.
Key
Responsibilities
Manual
Blasting Operations
- Perform manual
abrasive blasting on FPSO hulls in support of robotic hull painting
activities
- Prepare steel surfaces
to specified standards (e.g. Sa 2½ / Sa 3) as required
- Carry out edge
preparation, spot blasting, touch-ups, and inaccessible-area blasting
- Ensure correct
abrasive selection, nozzle handling, pressure control, and blasting
techniques
Surface
Preparation & Quality Control
- Inspect blasted
surfaces for cleanliness, profile depth, and contamination
- Rectify defects
identified during surface preparation or post-robotic blasting
- Work closely with
coating inspectors and robotic operators to meet coating specifications
- Maintain clean work
areas to prevent recontamination of prepared surfaces
Equipment
Handling & Maintenance
- Set up, operate, and
shut down blasting equipment safely
- Inspect hoses,
nozzles, deadman controls, couplings, and blasting pots before use
- Report faulty or
damaged equipment immediately
- Ensure proper handling

with robotic operators, painters, scaffolders, and marine crews
- Ensure manual blasting
does not conflict with robotic painting, lifting operations, or marine
activities
- Stop work and report unsafe conditions immediately
