Job Summary
The
QA/QC Inspector – Robotic Hull Painting is responsible for ensuring that all
surface preparation, manual blasting, and robotic hull painting activities meet
approved specifications, client requirements, and applicable international
standards. The role focuses on inspection, documentation, verification, and
quality control throughout the hull coating process while ensuring compliance
with offshore safety and quality procedures.
Key
Responsibilities
Quality
Inspection & Control
- Inspect surface
preparation activities including manual blasting and robotic blasting
- Verify surface
cleanliness and profile in accordance with specified standards (e.g. ISO
8501, SSPC)
- Conduct pre-blast,
post-blast, and pre-coating inspections
- Ensure coating
application meets thickness, uniformity, and finish requirements
Robotic
Hull Painting Oversight
- Monitor robotic hull
painting operations to ensure adherence to approved procedures
- Verify correct paint
systems, mixing ratios, application parameters, and curing times
- Interface with robotic
operators to address quality deviations promptly
- Ensure proper
coordination between manual and robotic coating activities
Documentation
& Reporting
- Maintain accurate
QA/QC records including inspection reports, checklists, and logs
- Record surface profile
measurements, DFT readings, and environmental conditions
- Report
non-conformances (NCRs) and follow up on corrective actions
- Ensure all quality
documentation is completed and approved as required
Standards
& Compliance
- Ensure compliance with
project specifications, ITPs, and client quality requirements
- Apply relevant coating
and inspection standards (ISO, NACE, SSPC, ASTM)
- Support audits, client
inspections, and third-party verification activities
Health,
Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Comply with offshore
HSE policies, procedures, and Permit to Work (PTW) requirements
- Participate in toolbox
talks, JSAs, and risk assessments
- Ensure inspection
activities are conducted safely within SIMOPS environments
- Report unsafe acts,
conditions, or quality risks immediately
SIMOPS
& Offshore Coordination
- Coordinate inspection
activities with blasting crews, robotic operators, painters, and
supervisors
- Ensure inspection
activities do not conflict with ongoing marine or lifting operations
- Support smooth
workflow by timely inspections and approvals
