Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily valve maintenance, repair, testing, and certification activities.
  • Support the development and execution of weekly valve maintenance and repair work plans.
  • Supervise valve shop and field maintenance activities to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards.
  • Provide hands-on technical support for valve inspection, dismantling, cleaning, repair, assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and re-certification.
  • Guide and mentor technicians on valve repair and maintenance techniques, including assembly, testing, set-pressure verification, and functional testing.
  • Ensure pressure safety valves (PSVs), control valves, isolation valves, and other relevant valve types are maintained in accordance with approved procedures and manufacturer requirements.
  • Ensure valve testing and certification activities comply with applicable ASME/National Board V, UV, and VR Code requirements.
  • Verify the quality and completeness of valve repair, testing, inspection, and certification documentation.
  • Review test results and ensure set-pressure verification and other required parameters are within specified tolerances.
  • Identify abnormal valve conditions, recurring failures, and potential reliability issues and support appropriate corrective actions.
  • Participate in valve failure investigations and provide technical input into root-cause analysis and recommendations.
  • Ensure proper identification, tagging, traceability, and documentation of valves throughout the maintenance and repair process.
  • Support JDE E1 updates relating to maintenance activities, work orders, equipment records, materials, and inventory.
  • Follow up on materials, spare parts, tools, and equipment required for valve maintenance and repair activities.
  • Support inventory accuracy by ensuring appropriate documentation and tracking of valve components, spares, and consumables.
  • Coordinate with Maintenance, Operations, Inspection, Engineering, Materials, and other relevant departments to ensure timely completion of valve-related activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with approved HSE procedures, permit-to-work requirements, isolation procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Identify hazards and ensure appropriate risk assessments, toolbox talks, and job safety requirements are implemented before work commencement.
  • Promote good housekeeping and safe working practices within the valve workshop and field locations.
  • Support workforce development through coaching, on-the-job training, and mentoring of junior technicians.
  • Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of valve maintenance tools, test benches, lifting equipment, and other workshop equipment.
  • Prepare and provide technical reports, maintenance records, test reports, and other required documentation.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, competency assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other valve maintenance and repair duties as assigned by the Maintenance/Mechanical Supervisor or Manager.
  • Requirements & Qualifications

    • Minimum 4-5 years of hands-on experience in valve (PSV, SDV, BDV, process and control valve) repair and testing
    • Competency in assembly, set-pressure testing, troubleshooting, and documentation
    • Proficiency in JDE-E1 updates, material tracking, and inventory accuracy
    • Strong knowledge of ASME/NBIC/API codes and HSE compliance standards
    • Experience supervising technical teams and mentoring junior technicians
    • Proven ability to conduct failure investigations and implement corrective actions
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on safety and quality
    • Proficiency in valve shop and field activities coordination
    • Strong communication and leadership skills to guide daily operations
    • Ability to work on-site in Luanda, Angola, with a commitment to HSE protocols
