Key Responsibilities

  • - Assist with lathe, milling, drilling, grinding, and other machine shop operations under the direction of experienced machinists.
  • - Support the fabrication and repair of shafts, bolts, gears, bushings, spacers, pins, sleeves, and similar mechanical components.
  • - Assist with the refurbishment and repair of rotating and static equipment components.
  • - Support the preparation, setup, handling, and cleaning of machines, tools, materials, and workpieces.
  • - Assist with basic inspection, cleaning, lubrication, and routine maintenance of machine shop equipment and tools.
  • - Handle materials, components, and workshop tools safely and appropriately.
  • - Assist machinists with measurements and basic dimensional checks using appropriate measuring tools.
  • - Follow engineering drawings, sketches, work instructions, and supervisor guidance where applicable.
  • - Participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and technical training.
  • - Maintain good housekeeping, workplace organization, and tool control within the machine shop.
  • - Report damaged tools, equipment defects, unsafe conditions, or other abnormalities to the supervisor.
  • - Comply with HSE procedures, PPE requirements, JSA, risk assessments, and approved safe work practices.
  • - Support other machine shop activities as assigned by the Supervisor or Senior Machinist.

Requirements & Qualifications

- Basic mechanical aptitude and practical understanding of workshop activities.

- Previous experience supporting machine shop, mechanical workshop, fabrication, or industrial maintenance activities is an advantage.

- Ability to work safely around lathes, milling machines, drills, grinders, and related workshop equipment.

- Ability to follow instructions, work procedures, drawings, or sketches as required.

- Basic understanding of mechanical tools, materials, and component handling.

- Good awareness of HSE requirements and safe equipment-handling practices.

- Good housekeeping, teamwork, discipline, and willingness to learn.

- Ability to work effectively under the supervision of experienced machinists and workshop supervisors.

- A technical/vocational qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, Fabrication, or a related field is an advantage.
