Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures, standards, and safe work practices in line with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, safety observations, risk assessments, and hazard identification activities.
  • Monitor compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), toolbox talks, and other safety requirements.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and prepare appropriate reports and corrective action plans.
  • Conduct and coordinate HSE inductions, toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and awareness programmes.
  • Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and compliance with site safety requirements.
  • Monitor emergency preparedness, fire safety, first aid, spill response, and evacuation procedures.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, inspection checklists, and safety statistics.
  • Assist with environmental monitoring, waste management, and pollution prevention initiatives.
  • Support internal and external HSE audits and ensure timely close-out of identified findings.
  • Liaise with operations, contractors, and other stakeholders to promote compliance with HSE requirements.
  • Stay updated on applicable Nigerian HSE regulations, Oil & Gas standards, and industry best practices.
  • Perform other HSE-related duties as assigned.
  • Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or HND in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3–5 years of relevant HSE experience, preferably within the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Professional HSE certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian HSE regulations and Oil & Gas industry standards.
  • Practical experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, PTW, emergency response, and safety inspections.
  • Strong understanding of HSE management systems and workplace safety practices.
  • Good report-writing, communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in field, site, and operational environments.
  • Ability to work under pressure and demonstrate strong attention to detail.
