Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver practical and theoretical lessons in Woodwork and Metalwork.
  • Demonstrate correct techniques for cutting, shaping, joining, fabrication, finishing, and assembly.
  • Teach students how to safely operate and maintain relevant hand tools, machines, and workshop equipment.
  • Develop practical projects that build students' technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Assess students' practical work, knowledge, and overall progress.
  • Prepare lesson plans, practical exercises, assignments, tests, and examination materials.
  • Maintain proper inventory and ensure responsible use of workshop tools and materials.
  • Enforce workshop safety procedures and ensure students use appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Identify and report damaged or unsafe tools and equipment.
  • Support students in developing craftsmanship, creativity, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Participate in school activities, exhibitions, practical demonstrations, and extracurricular programmes.
  • Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, HND, NCE, or relevant technical qualification in Woodwork, Metalwork, Technical Education, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
  • B.Ed., B.Sc., or B.A. + PGDE is preferred where applicable.
  • Minimum of 3 years' relevant teaching, technical, or workshop experience.
  • Strong practical knowledge of woodwork and/or metalwork processes.
  • Ability to operate and safely supervise the use of workshop tools and equipment.
  • Good communication, instructional, and classroom/workshop management skills.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety practices is essential.
