Job Search Checklist for Fresh Graduates

Job Search Checklist for Fresh Graduates

August 04, 2026

Graduation is exciting. The job search that follows? Not always.

One minute you're celebrating finishing school or NYSC, and the next you're wondering where to find jobs, what to include in your CV, and whether you're even applying for the right roles.

Before you hit the "Apply" button, make sure you have these basics covered:

A well-written and updated CV

A professional email address

An active LinkedIn profile

Copies of your certificates and credentials

A list of the roles and industries you're interested in

A plan to apply consistently, not just occasionally

One more thing: don't ignore internships, graduate trainee programmes, or entry-level roles because they don't sound glamorous. Many successful careers started there.

Your first job may not be your dream job, but it can be the opportunity that opens the door to it.

Start where you are, keep learning, and keep showing up.
