Primary Purpose:

TechnoServe is seeking to fill the position of a Deputy Project Manager for a value chain development project in Kano. Working closely with the Project Manager, the Deputy Project Manager will be responsible for timely and effective implementation of project activities and achievement of the project’s goal. S/he will thus be responsible for quality implementation of the project and delivery of results/milestones as agreed with the donor.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all deliverables under the program together with the Project Manager, including specific outputs and outcomes laid out in the program proposal
  • Support the launch of project activities and ensure excellence in execution. Key activities will include, conducting in-depth research and market analysis, identification of program participants and development and formation of associations.
  • Oversee the project work plan and ensure timely project implementation
  • Provide coaching, direction, and leadership support to the team members working on this program
  • Produce narrative reports for internal and external consumption; and share best practices and lessons learned from the project
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders, including, the donor, government ministries, private sector companies, financial institutions, business associations, and academic institutions
  • Represent the program and TechnoServe at internal and external functions
  • Understand and promote TechnoServe’s values, vision, and strategy in the implementation of assigned duties.
  • Assist in implementing the plan that helps resolve any occasional discrepancies and irregularities
  • Strict adherence to timeframe of assignments in project life-scope
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned

 


Minimum: B.Sc/B.A

General Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related areas; master’s degree preferred
  • Strong project management and analysis skills
  • Experience working in the development sector
  • Knowledge in management consulting and community development a plus
  • Experience in facilitation of training programs essential
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Track record of building strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to generate innovative solutions
  • Willingness to travel frequently
