Responsibilities

Widetrack International Limited specializes in engineering installations, maintenance services, Automation, all aspects of electrical contracting and Facilities/Project Management.

The company requires the services of suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Sales Engineer.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Responsible for the sales of company products, technologies and services offered to various applications and markets served using APV (pumps, valves, HEX, homogenisers, mixers), Gerstenberg-Schroeder (fats & oils processing equipment) and Seital (centrifuges) portfolio of products (focus), together with other brands within the SPX F&B portfolio (LIghtnin, Andro, B+L). To lead sales of products and to achieve sales volume and profitability targets assigned on an annual basis, typically in excess of 1 Million USD. The position will require extensive involvement in the completion of all critical tasks related to the sales process including opportunity creation and identification, solution selection, proposal generation (with the help of the technical support from the Application Engineers) and follow-up, and the ultimate capture of new business. Sales offering include primarily technology portfolio and services from APV, GS and Seital, however, it is expected that technologies available from other SPXFLOW brands (Lightnin, Anhydro & B+L) will be offered, if relevant for the customer. Key Account Management for some main Nigerian F&B accounts will also form part of the duties.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)

  • Increase sales of APV (pumps, valves, HEX, homogenisers, mixers), Gerstenberg-Schroeder (fats & oils processing equipment) and Seital (centrifuges), as well as the other SPX F&B brands (Lightnin, Anhydro & B+L) by selling either direct or via approved representatives.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the markets and custormers' processes, organizations and overall business to gain a competitive selling advantage for the company.
  • Develop and implement sales plans towards key markets and key customers for key technologies.
  • Participate actively in sales work and relationship development with key customers. Analyze and interpret customers inquires/specifications and developing a corresponding sales strategy and proposal submission. Interface with customer and conduct on-site meetings as necessary to finalize product design and/or resolve commercial issues, in order to obtain a customer order commitment.
  • Working with SPX sales, service & engineering staff, develop and maintain strong sales contacts, including direct sales and sales to OEM's and Engineering/Construction/ Houses, that provide effective geographical and application coverage for SPX business.
  • Train partners and customers on company products and keep them informed of new products and services being offered for further sales development.
  • Manage the existing and new customer base.
  • Identify and propose key market and customer growth opportunities while maintaining profitability in keeping with corporate goals and objectives.
  • Create Marker Analysis for the purpose of gap analysis and strategy development to identify growth potential.   
  • Provide accurate and timely forecasting of orders.
  • Maximize and monitor the level of inquiries for capital equipment.
  • Maintain accurate information regarding open opportunities and biweekly activity reports. Provide reports to management as required.
  • Evaluate incoming inquires, qualify and create sales strategy for each opportunity.
  • Execute quotation presentations and sales campaigns.
  • Execute technical/commercial negotiations.
  • Drive process compliance, process improvements within the SPX business.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase business win rate and reduce overall time and cost for quotation development.
  • Participate in exhibitions/fairs/seminars to the extent required.
  • Promote close team work across the brands and across the SPX sales community.

General Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from a three to four year college or university; and three to five years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or Food industry related field.
  • Technical and commercial background within Food & Beverage industry with minimum five years related experience.
  • Minimum 5 years direct sales experience.  

Skills

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret general business periodicals, professional journal, technical procedures, financial reports of governmental/legal regulations.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry of area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to respond to common inquires or complaints from customers.
  • Strong sales and operational background.
  • Excellent skills in persuasion and negotiation.
  • Excellent team players with ability to lead, manage, measure and motivate your partners, clients and colleagues.
  • Proven track record of meeting commitments with the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
  • Able to travel more than 50% of the time.
  • High proficiency in English is required, other languages will be helpful.
